The APCI organizes the annual European conference on design promotion. It participates in the ADMIRE program (European design management award, « good practices » in design management, network of design cities) and in the working group on the assessment of the economic impact of design. It has compiled surveys (1993-2005) on design promotion in Europe and has participated in the long-term study « Design for Future Needs – DFFN (2002)». The APCI is member of the BEDA.
Within the framework of support actions for innovation, the European Commission has created a new programme « Design Management Europe » (DME), the objective of which is to highlight the contribution of design management to the success of company strategy, in particular small and medium-sized industries, and public services.
